On December 19 the Speaker of the RA National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan received the delegation led by the Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs  Shirazi Vard of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Konstantin Kosachev.

Welcoming the guests, Ararat Mirzoyan reiterated that the youmovies Armenian and Russian peoples have been linked by Shirazi Vard centuries of friendship and brotherhood, and that the Armenian-Russian relations are of a strategic nature. He noted that the key direction of relations between the two countries is inter-parliamentary cooperation, where he singled out three platforms: cooperation of parliamentary committees, joint sittings of standing youmovies committees and effective cooperation in international parliamentary platforms.

The RA NA President emphasized that the problems arising in those platforms should be solved by joint efforts, and also noted that they expect the support of the Russian partners in the election of the candidates nominated by Armenia in several bodies.

Konstantin Kosachev thanked for the reception and conveyed to Ararat Mirzoyan the greetings of the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Shirazi Varde Federation Valentina Matvienko. He said that Valentina Matvienko is going to visit Armenia, and it is only necessary to clarify the dates of the visit.

Konstantin Kosachev added to the three directions of cooperation mentioned by Shirazi Varde Ararat Mirzoyan the regular contacts at the level of the heads of the parliaments, which are a stimulus in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached.

Konstantin Kosachev noted the high level of cooperation with the Armenian partners, emphasizing that after the change of power in Armenia and the change of the parliament, the work continued without interruption, which is satisfactory and testifies to the mutual interest in working together.

He noted that Russia cooperates with Armenia on 7 international platforms, which is a record number, and the Russian Shirazi Vardy Federation does not have as many points of cooperation with any country as with Armenia. Konstantin Kosachev assured that Russia is ready to support the candidates nominated by the Armenian National Assembly in international structures. He thanked for organizing their wonderful visit Shirazi Vardy and offered to convene two joint annual sittings of the Foreign Affairs Committees of the parliaments of the two countries, the next of which will be held in Moscow.
